How do I join HASSRA

Joining HASSRA is easy!

Who can join?

Membership of HASSRA is open to all staff working in the Department of Health, Department for Work & Pensions, Food Standards Agency and the Executive Agencies of each of these business areas, including people who have retired and those employed by private contractors working on Departmental business.

It is even possible to join HASSRA if you used to work for one of the Departments or their Executive Agencies and you were a member of HASSRA for 30 years or more, reduced to 25 years or more since May 2006, but don’t get a pension.

You may be able to join as an Associate Member if you used to work for the Department, irrespective of whether or not you were previously a HASSRA member. Your regional HASSRA office will be able to tell you more.

How much does it cost?

At just 35p per week membership, HASSRA provides excellent value for money so take up the challenge and ‘Get Active with HASSRA’. The monthly subscription is £1.50 and is deductible from your salary or pension.

Special rules exist on how to pay for those who used to work for the Department, were long-term HASSRA members and don’t have a pension. Contact your local or regional HASSRA representative to find out more.

What do I have to do to join?

To become a member simply complete the HASSRA Membership Form and pass it to your local or regional HASSRA representative. If you’re not sure who that is, check Regions at a Glance or contact the HASSRA Central Support Team on 0207 412 1448.
