The 2008 Art Competition was hosted by HASSRA London. Certificates will be issued to the best three entries in each class and the Sir Patrick Nairne Trophy is awarded to the picture adjudged best overall. The overall winner is also invited to attend the HASSRA Awards Dinner in May as a guest of the Association.

2008 Results:

Winner of the Sir Patrick Nairne Trophy for Best Picture overall is:
David W Roberts from Fylde with his piece ‘Joe Mercer’

Judges comments: “A competent portrait. Well drawn and executed in pastel. The sitter is captured in an animated pose, the hand gives an added interest and strengthens the relaxed composition. A difficult portrait that is very pleasing.”

Runner-up:

Helen Alveranga from London with her piece ‘Succulent’

Judges comments: “Well observed and painted. Good rhythmic arrangement of objects. High standard of skill.”
