HASSRA Fylde

Norcross Social Club

  • Following the demise of the hard copy of the Bulletin, we thought it was time to let you know what is happening at your club.
  • Firstly, with football being the main topic at the moment, congratulations to Blackpool on their promotion to the Premiership. Those of us who couldn’t get tickets, or make the final at Wembley, enjoyed the atmosphere at the Social Club, where an audience of all ages gave vocal support to them and thoroughly enjoyed the bacon butties provided by Yvonne and Maria at the reasonable price of £1, which included entry to a raffle!
  • Similar arrangements will apply to the World Cup. As long as England remains in the Competition, we are providing discounted beers, reduced by 50p a pint, for 1 hour prior to kick off until the final whistle, for their games, as well as the £1 refreshments. This is already on what are competitive prices. We will also be open for any afternoon kick offs that England may be involved in, as a service to members who do not want to rush home for the matches. We have 4 televisions in the main bar area and can provide extra screens in the Brierley Suite as necessary. So there is room for all, a good view and a good atmosphere!
  • We hope that Blackpool will feature on TV for a good number of their Premiership games, which you will be able to view at the Club, so come down and support England, then Blackpool.
  • Earlier this month, we hosted a successful cheese and wine evening in the Brierley Suite, which was well attended and helped swell the coffers for our adopted charity, Trinity Hospice. Thanks are due to our Secretary, Lesley, who provided a sumptuous spread, then did a raffle with Dorothy Midgley! Thanks are also due to the Committee members who dispensed the wine so cheerfully, but mainly to the members and friends who supported the function. We have a further evening planned in the autumn, so watch this space!
  • As a member of HASSRA at Fylde, you can book the Brierley Suite for any celebration you have planned at a very reasonable cost, so if you have something coming up in the future, why not consider using the facility? Have a word with our Secretary, Lesley McGee on x63898, for details, or call in the Club and speak to Mark or David behind the bar.
  • The Club is open at lunchtimes, as well as evenings, so why not pop in for a drink? It will get you away from your desk, you can meet up with friends for a chat, sit outside in the sun, if we have a nice summer and chill for a while. As well as alcoholic drinks, we serve a wide range of soft drinks, as well as tea and coffee, all at competitive prices. We look forward to seeing you there!
  • Hopefully, this is the first of what will be regular communications about the Norcross Social Club.
