Situated along the coast of the Irish Sea with a population of over 142,000 it is the fourth largest settlement in the North East of England. Blackpool rose to prominence as a major centre of tourism during the 19th century. The coach will be picking up from Newcastle Central station, Washington services (South Bound A1M) and Dolphin Centre Darlington. On arrival in Blackpool the day will be yours to explore many of Blackpool’s sites and attractions, until 7.00pm when we will start our journey back through the illuminations to Newcastle. Approximate arrival times in the NE will be given nearer the time, but you must be aware these times will be very late in the evening due to the heavy traffic around Blackpool. The Holiday Inn Bromsgrove is situated approx a mile from the centre of Bromsgrove with easy access to the motorway for the NEC. All rooms are en-suite with tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, telephone and television. There is a health and fitness club with indoor pool, sauna, steam room, spa and gym. SaturdayWe depart Newcastle at 8am and, with a services stop en route, expect to be in Birmingham around 1pm. Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market, with over 180 stalls, is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria. Sample the delights of Gluhwein, grilled sausages, gingerbread and a range of traditional German breads and pastries baked fresh on the site each day. There are unusual and handmade gifts, including ceramics, candles, jewellery and Christmas decorations. The Bullring has a vast array of shops including Selfridges and Debenhams. Other attractions include the Ikon Gallery (admission free, one of Europe’s premier contemporary art galleries with an excellent tapas restaurant) and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (admission free). At 4.30pm we travel the short distance to the hotel, arriving around 5.15pm, with time for relaxation in the leisure facility before dinner (may be a Christmas menu with vegetarian option). SundayAfter breakfast we depart at 9.45am and travel to the NEC for the Clothes Show Live (admission included). The show is the world’s largest and most entertaining fashion event, with non-stop catwalk shows, leading designers showcasing their latest collections, live music, high street brands and opportunities for a make-over! Admission to the fashion show is included in your ticket.
