Many HASSRA NW cubs were very busy on Friday 18 November last year raising money for the BBC’s Children in Needs appeal. Here’s a round up of their fantastic fundraising achievements.
Staff wore something spotty for the day and collected £115.95 for Children In Need plus the gift aid sum.
Carlisle BC did their last ever Children in Need event on the night and as ever the staff rose to the occasion. Even though there are only 154 of them, they we raised £232.62 from a teddy bear's picnic, a raffle, a pick the cake that Pudsey baked.
Steve Smith donned his Pudsey outfit on Friday to keep us focused on Children in Need day. The Children in Need slogan ‘Show your spots, lets raise lots’ was well received and there were lots of spotty staff around the office.
Other activities at Bolton Benefit Centre were Pudsey toast and orange juice for breakfast, sale of home made jam, a Children in Need quiz, and lots of ‘guess the cake’ competitions from the Children in Need pack.
Staff gave generously on the day and had lots of fun and cakes. HASSRA reps collected donations on the day and we raised a fantastic £504.83.

Steve Smith as Pudsey
Following the tremendous fundraising effort the office had undertaken over the previous couple of months and prior to the Christmas run-up it was decided to make Children In Need a more low key event. Despite this several members of the HASSRA committee went round the office collecting any loose change people had in their purses or lying about in drawers. Even this resulted in £113.29 being collected on the day and added to the BBC total helping vulnerable children around the UK.
Cheetham Hill raised £65 for children in need. They had a dress down day, had a Pudsey cake competition and sold cupcakes baked by a staff member’s daughter.
They raised a total of £135.20 through the sale of cakes/biscuits on Wednesday 16 November and a Dress down day on Friday 18 November. There was also a Pudsey cup cake competition which was won by Rachel Slowey.

Cakes and biscuits at Barrow JC – yum yum!
Staff dressed down for the day for £1 each. Some people baked cakes which were sold for 50pence a slice. A colleague Sam had a "football card" which was used to raise funds. Over £40 was donated from a collection for a member of staff who was transferring to another office but the move never went ahead! Total raised - £117.14.
They raised a total of £441.00 for Children in Need by holding a book sale/bring and buy sale and cake sale. Also, a member of staff held a sponsored silence, and a male staff member held a sponsored leg and chest wax! They also had '' guess the sweets in a jar'' competition. There was a sponsored brew, Spot the dog - a staff member dressed up as a dog - they pinned ''coloured spots'' on his costume and everyone had to guess how many spots there were in total. Lastly, they used the scratch card from the Children in Need pack and the day was very well supported.
Health and Safety Executive in Bootle raised a massive £2594 for Children In Need, using the usual cake sales, bucket collections, live music, a Wii golf competition and their regular feature, the office panto - this year it was Carry On Toybox!!
Holborn House raised £310.00 through holding a cake sale, guess the number of smarties in a jar, cookbook sake and a very popular bottle tombola! Plus, two members of staff helped the man the phones and take pledges for the live TV appeal.
