Occasionally most of us need a day or two off work with flu or a stomach bug. But what if your illness is more serious, or you have an injury? At these times you want treatment as soon as possible, so you can get back to living a normal life again. That's why Bupa has joined forces with HASSRA to offer up to 44% discount off the cost of private medical cover under the Bupacare scheme(*1).
With private medical cover you could benefit from access to medical care at a time that suits you. You have a choice of who treats you and where. It means that you can relax, usually in your own room with an en-suite bathroom, a phone and television. If you have a family you can also use your discount to extend cover to your partner and children.
Private medical cover can offer peace of mind for you and your family when the cost of having private medical treatment, if you are not insured, can be prohibitive.
So how does private medical cover work?
Private medical cover is designed to pay for the costs of eligible private treatment of acute diseases, illnesses and injuries that respond quickly to medical or surgical treatment, so that normal health is restored without the need to continue treatment.
Eligible private hospital treatment will normally be covered in full, including the cost of the room, personal meals, nursing care, drugs and dressings, X-rays, scans and theatre charges. You can also be covered in full for the fees charged by surgeons and anaesthetists(*2).
Partners can be included as dependants, plus any unmarried children up to the age of 21 (24 if in full-time education). Newborn children can be included free of charge until the first renewal date after their birth(*3).
Your personal health service
Unlike most other health and care organisations Bupa is run for our members . We have no shareholders to pay, which means any profits can be reinvested in health and care for our members. This has enabled us to develop our own network of hospitals and health assessment centres where members can benefit from the valuable experience we’ve gained over the years.
