The HASSRA sponsorship scheme was introduced in 1986 to offer financial help to members to reach their potential in their chosen sport or pastime. To date over 1100 members have applied through the scheme which demonstrates our commitment to both able bodied and disabled members throughout the Association and has helped applicants to achieve success at all levels. At the 2009 national HASSRA conference a full review of the scheme was commissioned with an aim to bring it up to date so that it reflects members ever changing lifestyles and needs.
The outcome of the review was to have three broad areas for applications: ‘well-being activities – personal development within HASSRA or within the local community; sporting development, and development for members with a disability. However, the single most major change is to re-brand the scheme ’Development’ rather than sponsorship in the hope that the new scheme attracts a wider catchment of applications.
For more information about the scheme, read the attached notes for applicants and complete the HASSRA Development Scheme application form. Non-DWP staff should complete the online form, save it down and print it, then post to the address shown on the form. If you are applying for funding in connection with the 2012 Olympic and/or Paralympic Games please note that your application needs to be submitted by 31 March 2012. All applications will then be considered and applicants noted thereafter. |
