HASSRA Wales Sports Day 2022

The venue at Swansea University, Singleton Campus has been confirmed for the 47th HASSRA Wales Sports Day to take place on Friday 6th May 2022.

As always, you must be a current member of HASSRA Wales to take part in any event

HASSRA Wales are keen to use the occasion to select as many of our sporting competitors as possible for the HASSRA National Festivals in Warwick (scheduled for the weekends of  08-10th July  and 09-11th September 2022)

Festival qualifying events are identified by (Q)

There will be a mixed 4 x 100 relay to kick off proceedings and any club wanting to compete for the Sports Day awards will need to field (or join)  a team in that event. All clubs must enter  (or join) a relay team, in order to qualify for points for Sports Day awards. Any club unable to field a full relay team  may form a combined team with other clubs

The Events:

  • Opening  4x 100 mixed relay -   (2 male & 2 female) - see details above re qualification for Sports Day awards
  • Badminton(Q) - ladies singles, men’s singles and mixed doubles 
  • Boules/Petanque - open pairs
  • Bowls - open pairs (Off campus at De La Beche BC, Swansea)
  • Chess (Q)
  • Dri Tri (Q) - running machine, rowing machine & static bike
  • 5K Run
  • Giant Jenga - open pairs
  • Give us a Clue (Q) - open 3s
  • Golf -  ladies and men with a maximum of 40 entrants in total (Off campus at Stableford)  
  • Men’s 5 a side Football (Q)
  • Ladies Netball (Q)
  • Rounders Mixed(Q) -  (taster with a view to team selection)
  • Squash
  • Table Tennis(Q) - ladies singles, men’s singles and mixed doubles
  • Shuffleboard - open pairs (taster event)

 PLEASE OBSERVE ALL COVID RULES IN PLACE AT THE CAMPUS, GOLF CLUB AND BOWLS CLUB. ALTHOUGH WE ARE CURRENTLY AT ALERT LEVEL ZERO FACE MASKS MAY BE REQUIRED IN CERTAIN AREAS

  • All members are reminded that whilst at this event you are representing your host departments and therefore must behave accordingly and more importantly you should adhere to the HASSRA code of conduct at all times.
  • No licensed bar facilities will be provided at the University and members are reminded that no alcohol may be consumed anywhere within the confines of the sporting facilities. The café at the Swimming pool will be available from 8.30 a.m. but is open to the general public
  • You are also asked to respect your fellow competitors, officials and organisers by ensuring you are available for each round of your event at the specified time. Those who do not complete their events in full will be reported to their line managers and the HASSRA Wales Board of Management.
  • HASSRA Wales will not tolerate any behaviour that brings the association or the Department into disrepute, and those in breach of the code of conduct will be subject to disciplinary action.
