HASSRA Wales Fly Fishing 2025 - Results
Llyn Clywedog, Llanidloes
Friday 23/5/25
8 signed up for the event on the stunning llyn Clywedog, renowned as the best Fly- fishing location in Wales.
Nice blue skies and little cloud is not the ideal conditions for fishing and a tricky, changeable breeze led to a reduction in the normal catches.
The competition is scored on 5 caught fish being weighed with the heaviest bag the winner, under normal conditions the 5 are usually caught but this day was a bit different.
After fishing from 9.00 – 16.00, the usual suspect was the only angler to weigh in the full 5 fish, the organiser with 3 and most of the other danglers with 1 a piece. Full results as follows:
Bob Jones (Aberdare), 5 fish for 11lb 10ozs
Phil Harris (Morriston), 3 fish for 7lb 9ozs
Jake Pullman (Ty Taf), 1 fish for 2lb 8ozs
Arfon Williams (Llangefni), 1 fish for 1lb 14ozs
Graham Horton (Ty Taf), 1 fish for 1lb 13ozs
Martyn Blount (Swansea), 1 fish for 1lb 13ozs
Albert Rodrigues (Cardiff), 1 fish for 1lb 4ozs
Geraint Thomas (Swansea), no fish.
Although it was a tough days fishing it was fully enjoyed by the competitors and the top 3 go on to represent HASSRA Wales in the National inter regional finals in Scotland this September.
I would like to thank the HASSRA Wales committee for their continued support of this event.
