Sea Fishing I/A
Inter Association Team and Individual Sea Shore Fishing Competition.

HASSRA will be organising an Inter Association Sea shore fishing event on Friday 23 October on the River Tyne. This match will run in conjunction with the National open sea angling championship (NOSAC)and RCSL's sea angling event.
This will be both a team and individual event. The team event will be based on the overall length recorded and individuals will compete for the longest bag, longest flat fish and longest round fish. This event is open to all genders, but it may not be suitable or accessible for some disabled people. Competitors will need to supply their own fishing tackle and bait and are reminded that wet weather gear may also be needed.
The competition will be fished on the River Tyne and will be from a publicly accessible area along a defined railed section of the north side of the river. In terms of sea fishing this will be regarded as a comfortable form of sea angling.
Distance casting is not required.
Bait will be lugworm, ragworm, peeler crab or fish baits.
It is expected that, whiting’s, small codling, dabs, flounders and eels to be the main quarry.
There are several vloggers on YouTube showing details on fishing the River Tyne, "North East Angling" and "Setting the Hook UK".
HASSRA members should initially seek approval to attend this event from their respective regions. If approval is given can members register their commitment on HASSRA Live.
This event will be run in conjunction with the long-established National Open Sea Angling Championship. There will be no entry fee to compete in the HASSRA event, however, those HASSRA members will also be able to complete in the NOSAC event. HASSRA members wishing to compete in that event will be required to pay the relevant entry fees. These entry fees are non-refundable. There will also be "pools" in that match as well. These are optional and payable by the competitor.
High Tide that day is around 12.00 so the match will be approximately 2 and a half hours either side. Competitors will be advised of the exact timings prior to the event.
A presentation will take place after the match at a venue TBC.
Accommodation and Travel will be at the discretion of your region and if approved you will be able to make your own arrangements as nothing has been pre-booked.
Paul Whiteley, HASSRA organiser, will provide the competition rules and final details about the venue and match in early October.
