Secretary
The role of the Secretary is key to the success of a club. The secretary acts as a conduit between the Chair and the committee.
The key responsibilities of the secretary are outlined below:
- Arrange committee meetings
- Arrange the club AGM
- Issue communications to members as agreed by your committee.
- Keep a record of events and activities through the year, including charity fundraising; this can be used to compile the club annual report/award submission at the end of each year.
- Work with the Chair and committee to organise events, offering advice and guidance where necessary.
Who should be the Secretary?
For Office Clubs, the Secretary must be a full HASSRA member who is currently employed by DWP or another sponsoring Department.
For Single Activity Clubs, the Secretary does not need to be currently employed by DWP or a sponsoring Department; they may instead be a retired member or a member employed by a Departmental Contractor.
