Along with a number of other departmental associations, HASSRA is affiliated to the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC).

For an additional monthly cost of £4.99 per month, HASSRA members who also choose to join CSSC are eligible to take advantage of their offer, including a variety of inter-departmental sports competitions. Visit www.cssc.co.uk for more information. 


Competitive Swimming

The Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC) are holding their National Swimming, Water Polo and Lifesaving Championships at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield on Thursday and Friday (morning) 18th and 19th September 2025.

Swimmers need to be a member of CSSC to compete.  HASSRA does not contribute towards expenses for participation.

Limited expenses can be claimed from the CSSC under their National Travel Policy and a link to this is within the attached CSSC advert / entry form.

HASSRA will be sending a small team of regulars but we would welcome new people to our squad.

Events swum range from 1500 metres Freestyle 50 metres in all strokes.

Relays will be entered when we know what swimmers we have on each day.

Hancock & Evans Mens Hockey Tournament

HASSRA Hockey Players from around the UK came together recently in Nottingham with teams from other Civil Service Departments to contest the Hancock & Evans Trophy.  
The contest was held over two days with the HASSRA Team winning the Plate Trophy for the fourth consecutive year.
Here is HASSRA being presented with the Plate Trophy by  Hilary Gray (CSSC).  HASSRA Goalkeeper Macauley Curwood was also presented with CSSC Player of the Tournament award.

This year, the event will take place from 8th - 9th May 2025, at Beeston Hockey Club in Nottingham.  If you would like to be considered for a place in the 2025 DWP National Men's team, please contact Lawrence Payne or Ian Brown for further details - all levels of experience welcome.
