Menston circular via Hawksworth Moor - Sat 30th August
Hello walkers,
Our August walk is on Saturday the 30th, led by Gary & Gill:
Menston circular via Hawksworth Moor
The Walk: This month's walk is a moderate, circular of approx 6.5 miles. Starting from Menston (spotting Menston Yarnbombers' https://www.facebook.com/menston.yarnbombers/ wonderful creations along the way!) we will walk to Hawksworth Moor taking in long distance views of the Wharfe and Aire valleys. There is one steady climb via the village of Burley Woodhead to the the moor, where we'll stop alongside Reva reservoir for a snack (bring your own) before making our descent through fields and meadows back to Menston..
Meeting Time and Place: Meet at 10.00 am for a 10:15 am start at Menston Station.
By Rail: The 09.34 from Leeds (to Ilkley) arrives at Menston at 09.49.
By car: There is parking on Station Road (https://maps.app.goo.gl/qqYEgKjAQM1MH8SE8).
If you need, or can offer, a lift on a petrol-sharing basis; please let Gill know.
Food & drink: You may like to bring a drink and a snack for a stop on the way. If you would like to join us for a meal at the end of the walk a table has been reserved for 1.15pm at The Malt Shovel pub in the centre of Menston - https://themaltshovel.co.uk/
Clothing: The terrain may be muddy and uneven in parts so appropriate footwear will be needed. Given the unpredictable weather, please bring/wear suitable clothing/layers.
